I genuinely enjoy spreading the good green word about programs that are just that – good and green. And if they offer something exciting to engage us, all the better. Read on, feel free to share & you or someone you know might just win a Kindle…
Given that gas prices are rising again, doesn’t it make sense for all of us to try carpooling, biking, riding the bus or walking to work? Not only will you save money, but if you try some new mode of transportation in Pima County, you can qualify for some fabulous prizes. Need something to spur you on? During the month of September, a great program called Sun Rideshare is doing a commuter contest that makes ridesharing fun and rewarding. (Sun Rideshare is a regional commuter assistance program that’s part of Pima Association of Governments and offers transportation alternatives to driving alone). It’s easy to play. Here’s what it takes: use an alternative mode of transportation just 12 times, that’s six days in the month, and you’ll qualify for a $100 Visa gift card. Other prizes that Sun Rideshare are offering include $75 and $50 gift cards. In order to be eligible, all you have to do is post your daily commutes at www.884ride.org. As they say, you can’t win if you don’t play.
And it gets better. Since September 21 is Car Free Tucson Day, all commuters will have a second chance to win prizes. Just post your car free commute story on Sun Rideshare’s Facebook page or website to qualify. The most creative story will be awarded a Kindle Fire. There will also be a random drawing for prizes and you’ll get more points if you take photos or video your car free commute. Be the change you wish to see in the world and even consider putting a team of friends together to compete against each other in the spirit of a greener planet. All the details are at www.884ride.org or call 884-RIDE (7433) for more information.
And if you care to share any of your stories with Mrs. Green, I would love that too.
