The sole purpose of this blog is to provide you with evidence that you matter. Your/our voices are being heard & there is evidence. Three recent, very powerful examples are:

1. McDonald’s recently asked farmers to improve conditions for sows  that you can read all about if you are so inclined.  McDonald’s has begun pushing pork suppliers to stop confining sows in small pens known as gestation stalls. Translation? Pigs can’t turn around & can only sit or stand. Here’s the proof we/you matter: “latest in a series of measures McDonald’s and other restaurant chains have taken to improve their public image at a time when they are under pressure from interest groups but from some consumers to be more environmentally friendly and healthful.” Link to full article below. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204062704577221624090652612.html?KEYWORDS=mcdonalds+mcrib

2. Check out article called “How We Won” articulating small step forward by Hershey’s in the Fair Trade/Human trafficking arena. Short quote:  “On January 30th, The Hershey Company announced that it would make a commitment to purchasing Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa for all of its Bliss Chocolate products, starting later this year.

This commitment is a welcome first step for Hershey to improve its supply chain accountability. This is the first commitment that Hershey has made to using an independent, third-party certification system to ensure that its cocoa is grown sustainably, including the monitoring of forced and child labor.” Translation? We won, we mattered & our voices were heard. Read all about it.  http://www.change.org/petitions/hershey-raise-the-bar

3. In the past few days,  environmental and progressive groups flooded the Senate with more than 800,000 messages opposing the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.  It took about 24 hours to get that many people to act. 800,000 is a big number. Again, if you are interested in the power of the people (you/us), link below. http://www.350.org/

We matter, you and I matter. Our voices are being heard.

Here’s to pumping up the volume & to podcasting the good green news to the world.
